AN evening of new plays is coming to The Berry Theatre later this month.

Following a region wide search five new dynamic plays penned by emerging writers are being staged at the venue on June 20 as part of In Short…

The five selected plays are:

Perfect Stranger by Robyn Grant which is being directed by Catherine Church, Artistic Director of Winchester based Platform 4

Defeat by Sarah Mulholland which is being directed by Owen Calvert-Lyons, Artistic Director of The Berry Theatre

Magnolias in Manhattan by Jade Jones which is being directed by Peter Clerke of Blue Apple Theatre, Winchester

By Any Other Name by Graham Cranmer which is being directed by Kirstie Davis, Artistic Director of Forest Forge Theatre Company, Ringwood

Living with Ghosts by Matt Beames which will be directed by Daniel Hill, Drama Development Manager for The Berry Theatre All five plays will be produced in just one day by a creative team of professional actors and technicians, offering a thrilling and emotionally charged evening of work for audiences.

Daniel said: “We were delighted with the number of entries we received from emerging writers and found it hard to choose the final five.

"But these sharp, to the point and thought-provoking hot off the press plays stood out amongst the entries we received and we look forward to working with the writers to stage them.”

In Short… is presented by The Berry Theatre on Saturday June 20 at 8pm and forms part of The Berry Theatre’s ongoing commitment to new writing and writers.

Tickets are £7 and £6 for concessions and the evening is suitable for aged 13 and up.
