“CONSIDER Yourself At Home” at Christchurch Regent Centre as Lionel Bart’s Oliver! plays the venue next week.

One of the area’s leading local companies, BMT Productions, present the smash West End and Broadway hit from June10-13.

The scene is set in the sinister Victorian workhouse, where the starving orphans are barely kept alive by a meagre bowl of gruel. Oliver Twist is elected by the other inmates to ask the bad tempered beadle, Mr Bumble, “Please Sir, I want some more”.

Oliver Twist’s trials and tribulations continue as he tries to find a new life in the Metropolis of London.

However, the City is full of low life, pickpockets and no hopers, who are all eager to take advantage of the young lad.

Oliver has to battle with the venomous Bill Skyes; befriend the beguiling Fagin; learn the tricks of the pickpocket trade from the Artful Dodger and earn the trust of the caring Nancy.

Oliver Twist’s bleak image of Victorian England is brightened by its brilliant score, which includes: Food Glorious Food, I’d Do Anything, Oom-Pah-Pah, Who Will Buy and Reviewing the Situation.

Since their debut musical, Little Shop of Horrors, at the Regent Centre in 2014, BMT Productions have gone from strength to strength and for this production of Oliver! they have once again secured the talents of local, award winning director, Frank Ewins and the musical direction of James Stead, MD of Swing Unlimited Big Band and regular performer with The Regular Joes and Red Fez Orchestra.

Oliver! will be at the Regent in Christchurch from 10-13 June.
