FRANKIE Valli, whose distinctive falsetto has graced many outstanding records from the sixties onwards, returns to Bournemouth next Friday July 3rd.

Born in 1937 as Francis Castelluccio in Newark, he was originally a solo singer, but he joined The Variatones in the 1950s.

They made their first recordings as The Four Lovers before becoming The Four Seasons in 1962. The group specialised in four-part barbershop-style harmonies with Frankie as lead singer and their first hit was ‘Sherry’.

This was written by Bob Gaudio, who along with Nick Massi and Tommy DeVito, made up the other three Seasons.

Daily Echo:

A Top Ten hit in the UK, it was the first of three consecutive chart-toppers in America; ‘Big Girls Don’t Cry’ and ‘Walk Like a Man’ being the other two.

The band’s line-up changed with Massi leaving in 1965, DeVito in 1971 and Gaudio in 1972.

However, Bob Gaudio would continue to write for the group and produce them, sometimes in tandem with Bob Crewe.

A resurgence happened in the mid-seventies with ‘The Night’, ‘Oh What a Night’, ‘December ‘63’ and ‘Silver Star’ amongst others.

And their music has been given a new lease of life with the success of the ‘Jersey Boys’ stage musical and film.

His falsetto is still as strong as ever, despite him now being 81 years old. The current Four Seasons have performed in the UK in recent years and such is the demand, they are returning to these shores again to delight audiences with their classic songs.

A superb night of music and nostalgia is in store as the many hits will be performed live on stage.

“Like that bunny on the TV with the battery,” quips Frankie.

“I just keep going and going and going.”
