THIS is an enjoyable song and dance extravaganza, featuring the classic 1920s and 1930s music of Irving Berlin, Cole Porter, and George Gershwin.

Ten talented and vivacious young dancers carry the show, with imaginative choreography, shimmery costumes, and tremendous tap routines.

Four stylish vocalists deliver a smooth selection of standards, including Anything Goes, Night And Day and Let There Be Love.

Topping the bill is Robin Windsor from BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing, although dance partner Anya Garnis was replaced by the equally experienced Gordana Grandosek.

Unfortunately, and importantly, there’s no live orchestra, the musical backing pre-recorded, with the usual bland, limp and dull sound that glorified karaoke always provides.

Overhead projections of archive footage featuring dance legends Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers add to the atmosphere.

An outstanding segment illustrates the famous 1928 Harlem Cotton Club, with its racy dangerous atmosphere, and sexy jazz vocals on Ain’t Misbehaving and Up A Lazy River.

Wonderful dance numbers include the creative tap routine on I Got Rhythm, the humorous Black Bottom, and Irving Berlin’s explosively precise show-stopper Puttin’ On The Ritz.

Robin and Gordana’s highlights are the tight cha-cha on Tea For Two, and their romantic waltz on the always moving Somewhere Over The Rainbow.

Although lacking the charisma of Anton du Beke and the brilliance of Brendan Cole, this is still a solid summer season show.

Runs until Saturday, matinees Wednesday and Saturday.
