RICNIC has gone from strength to strength since it began in 2004, forging its very own youth theatre role.
This production plays very much the company’s strengths in everything from clever set design, to technical expertise, choreography and a truly accomplished orchestra under the musical direction of Kathy Chalmers.
Director Alex Lonsdale has produced a controlled, smart and well realised show with beautifully managed set pieces that showcased the talents of his cast.
There was much to enjoy in the performances. Tom Hazelden (Sid) showed real star quality, stepping into the lead role at short notice.
Louisa Morgan gave an accomplished and vocally impressive performance as Babe.
There were many other fine performances, but worthy of mention are Felicia Gray, a delight as Gladys, a wonderful comic performance by Doug Cairns (Hines) and Eliza Roadnight who shone as Mabel.
