WINCHESTER will be swinging to the music and dance of the 20s and 30s when The Jiving Lindy Hoppers and Harry Strutters Hot Rhythm Orchestra present Swinging At The Cotton Club at Theatre Royal tonight.

It’s an invitation to step back in time and through the doors of New York’s legendary Cotton Club. It was an era when Duke Ellington, Louis Armstrong, Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday and Cab Calloway would get the audience swinging. Then extraordinary dancers like Bojangles Robinson and the Nicholas Brothers would light up the stage with their breath-taking routines.

In an action-packed show, The Jiving Lindy Hoppers, a legend in their own right, will recreate the exciting dances of the jazz era. Vocalists Marlene Hill and Megs Etherington will pay tribute to the greats while Harry Strutters Hot Rhythm Orchestra celebrate the exuberant music of New York’s hottest nightclub.

The Jiving Lindy Hoppers have a worldwide reputation. Among the dances they will perform are The Lindy Hop, The Black Bottom, The Charleston, and The Soft Shoe Shuffle.

Music from Harry Strutters Hot Rhythm Orchestra will include Minnie The Moocher, Everybody Loves My Baby and It Don’t Mean A Thing If Ain’t Got That Swing.
