THEATRE Royal Winchester will present a mix of Shakespeare, comedy, music and family entertainment in its professional programme this summer, as well as staging the talents of a host of community groups.

The 400th anniversary of Shakespeare’s death is marked with productions of Hamlet and All’s Well That Ends Well by Shakespeare at the Tobacco Factory from May 3 to 7.

Sasha Regan’s all-male production of Gilbert and Sullivan’s HMS Pinafore is back by popular demand from May 12 to 14. Torben Bett’s hit comedy Invincible is performed on May 23 and 24.

Gods Are Fallen And All Safety Gone, a cutting edge performance from Greyscale, is brought to the stage on June 9 and Winchester’s Blue Apple in Around The World In 80 Days can be seen from June 16 to 18.

Family shows include a street dance version of Jungle Book on May 31 and June 1, Tiddler And Other Terrific Tales on June 7 and 8, Hairy Maclary And Friends on July 24 and Stick Man on September 3 and 4.

Young Theatre Royal perform three shows in the summer. Remote (June 20 and 22), The Wonderful World Of Dissocia (June 21 and 23) and Into The Woods junior by Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine on July 19 and 20.

In May, a number of local companies are appearing at Theatre Royal. Gallows Productions present Tom Stoppard’s Rosencrantz And Guildenstern Are Dead (May 9 and 10). University Of Winchester’s BA vocal and choral students perform a new musical Blueprints (May 11). Winchester Musicals and Opera Society appear in Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream (May 18 to 21). Theatre Royal’s Silver Stage group present Monkey Bars (May 26 and 27). Hampshire rockers Strapped For Cash perform in aid of Wessex Heartbeat on May 29.

June sees the return of Integr8, who present local children and young people in The Chocolate Factory on June 3 and 4 and Dance Off 2016 on June 24 to 26. Tanguera Dance Company featuring professional and amateur dancers perform Tango Tales on June 11.

Winnall Rock School’s 12th Summer Show is on July 6. Students from Peter Symonds College present 42nd Street on July 11 and 12. Wessex Dance Academy returns on July 14. Local company As&When perform their show There’s A Zombie Outside with an onstage audience on July 21 and 22. RicNic Hampshire present Guys And Dolls on August 24 to 27.
