Look No Hands, RAODS, Plaza Theatre, Romsey

John Chapman and Michael Pertwee’s farce is based in the Berlin office of a British car company where Peter Fisher, a British secret agent, is the manager.

Steven Lilly gives a masterful performance, word-perfect and with impeccable comic-timing that never faltered as the pace quickened.

The arrival of Cadwallader, a senior agent splendidly characterised by Nick Longland, catches Fisher unawares.

The untimely arrival of mistress Heidi and singing telegram Mitzi, only serve to heighten the confusion as he increasingly implausibly tries to explain away their presence.

Kerry Butcher and Jennifer Hampton make the most of their fleeting appearances as the usual pattern of one character entering as another is ushered out escalates. The reappearance of Fisher’s wife (Fiona Mackay) further heightens the confusion, as does the arrival of Tregunter-Jones (Glenda Thomas), mistaken to be another agent.

Director Wayne Ings’ hilarious show has no flaws, with his well-dressed, good-looking, set as impressive as the cast themselves.
