The Full Monty
Fareham Musical Society
Ferneham Hall, Fareham
The musical version of the show needs the audience to care about the characters in order to get The Full Monty experience. I’m happy to say that this lot rose to the occasion!
The set was wonderful, but the execution of scene changes a little clunky, but whenever one of the “boys” hit the stage, all was forgiven.
Stuart Frank (Jerry) needed no helping hand, with the energy of ten men, contrasting nicely with his body-shy best pal, Alex Howat (Dave).
Some of the most touching moments were between Frank and his on-stage son, Tristan Redwood (Nathan) and there was plenty of comedy too, physical and lyrical.
We could hear the words and appreciate the singing, especially Hannah Edwins (Vicki) and Dan Roberts (Malcolm), and the orchestra were fantastic, which is down to musical director, Valerie Tucker.
A couple of small-drobe malfunctions at the end added to the hilarity. This group literally and figuratively pulled it off, in this “no padding required” production!
