OWEN Sheers’ acclaimed drama Pink Mist about servicemen returning home is coming to Theatre Royal Winchester on Monday March 20 for two days only.

Pink Mist is the story of three young men coming home from Afghanistan. The women in their lives must now share in the physical and psychological after effects of war. The men find that their journey home is their greatest battle.

Owen Sheers’ poetic drama is inspired by interviews with 30 servicemen. Devastating and sensitive, it confronts uncomfortable truths about the realities of war.

Pink Mist was first staged at Bristol Old Vic in 2015 to critical acclaim. The Daily Telegraph said, “The show sends you reeling, misty-eyed, into the night because even at its most playful, it signals realities too tough to bear.”

“The lines are poetic, but Sheers makes sure they are neither distractingly pretty nor gritty,” said The Times. “He also ensures that depictions of battle — made vivid through sound, lighting and acting, no props, little set — happen on stage alongside depictions of the domestic aftershocks to come. He erodes the barriers between past and present, action and consequence, real life and dream.”

Pink Mist is at Theatre Royal Winchester on Monday 20 and Tuesday 21 March. Tickets are available at theatreroyalwinchester.co.uk or on 01962 840440.
