REVIEW: 2 One Act Plays West Moors Drama Society
The Yesterday Man and The Last Bread Pudding
DUDLEY Eales did West Moors proud again by squeezing into a very small space an elaborate set that had to be used in two contrasting plays. Alan Dester and Denise King provided sharply observed ex-lovers in Yesterday Man revealing the frustration of grown apart people having to deal with a difficult present. Pudding was more random and haphazard in it's writing being an observation of am-dram committee work. Denise, a punchy performance from Joan Harrison, stirs things brilliantly as Tom Clifford's play is dissected, "enacting the symbolism of an unseen author". The "utterly silent character" Rosemary Willis was wonderfully focused throughout as humorous cliché is exposed and toyed with in the name of art.
