CURTAIN CALL REVIEW

‘BINGO’

RAODS

The Plaza Romsey

One glance at the programme and I knew we were in for a good night as Director Steven Lilly’s cast-list included several names that guarantee an outstanding performance. The show, set in an American bingo hall, features a group of friends and two staff members. Catherine Moore (Minnie) was the lively venue manager, mingling with the audience to assist with their participation but the funniest lines belonged to Gentleman Caller Sam (Paul Rogers). Danielle Fletcher (Vern), Vikki-Jo Keens (Honey) and Kathryn Thomas (Patsy) all sang, danced and acted brilliantly as the trio of old friends. The arrival of the equally talented Freya Burnside (as the initially evasive Alison) sparked the curiosity of the group but she was eventually accepted. The revelation that her mother was Bernice (Carole Lilly), ostracised from the group years previously, sparked reconciliation. The basic set worked well, Kerry Butcher’s choreography and Alex Clements’ musical trio matched the on-stage action for quality.
