A NEW play exploring what it’s like to be an older person in contemporary Britain will tour 11 Hampshire venues this autumn.
Hat Fair and Flintlock Theatre have announced the tour of their co-production Four Score Years and Ten, which was originally commissioned by Winchester City Council.
Four Score Years And Ten was constructed in 2016 from the words of Winchester’s 90-year-old residents. A total of 57 residents came forward to contribute and six participants were chosen and interviewed one-to-one. Transcripts from the six interviews were then used to create the show where the audience are invited to take tea alongside partygoers with nine decades to share.
Participant Phyllis, 93, said: “I can’t tell you how thrilled I am. Getting people together is really important. I sat there and heard my past afresh. It was a wonderful experience.”
It visits Theatre Royal Winchester, Marchwood Village Hall and Ashcroft Arts Centre in Fareham among a host of dates between September 13 and October 1. Tickets and details from hatfair.co.uk or call 01962 840440.
