CELEBRATED poet Lemn Sissay will deliver a dramatic one-night-only reading of his critically acclaimed one-man play Something Dark during Black History Month at Nuffield Southampton Theatres on Thursday.

Inspiring, powerful and incredibly touching, Lemn’s own play Something Dark tells the story of his upbringing in children’s homes and foster care as well as the search for his family and true identity.

Originally directed by John McGrath (National Theatre of Wales), Something Dark has been performed throughout the world to great critical acclaim. It was adapted for BBC Radio 3 in 2005, and the following Q&A sessions have become legendary.

Head of Programming at NST Katy Snelling said, “Some people’s stories have the power to change the world. The inspirational Lemn Sissay is one such person. This is a rare opportunity for Southampton to hear his story, in his own lyrical words.”
