WHEN Jonathan Pie took to the stage at the O2 Guildhall for his Back to the Studio tour he was angry and frustrated, which is nothing unusual for his roving reporter character.

Jonathan Pie – the creation of actor Tom Walker – has risen to public attention over the last few years, thanks to a succession of short video clips on YouTube which allegedly reveal what happens when the cameras stop rolling and cut back to the studio.

"Question Time meets Victoria Derbyshire" is Pie's plan for his new topical discussion show, Political Roadshow, that he is testing out on the audience, but it doesn't take long for chaos to ensue – he isn't happy with the music, the set, or the format for the pilot.

In fact, he isn't happy in general as he takes a satirical look at everything from the Tories and Donald Trump to Brexit, where he explains that everyone who voted was an idiot, as was everyone who didn't.

Pie doesn't stop there, as he goes on to take a swipe at the right-wing, the left-wing, the Royal Family and just about everyone in a show that makes people question why the NHS and education is under-funded, and yet HS2 is a perfectly viable project whilst costing almost £56 billion!

Next up for his cutting wit is the new buzz words that liberal lefties "absolutely must know" including 'woke' (how well-informed people are in current-affairs in relation to racial and social injustice), 'bame' (black, Asian and minority ethnic) and cultural appreciation.

It's a show not for the faint-hearted, and Pie manages to offend everyone, whilst offending no-one – with enough profanities to fill a swear box a few times over.

In all, Tom Walker is a genius and Jonathan Pie proves he deserves more than just a few minutes on camera.

He is quick witted and hilarious, and will leave you crying with laughter, and he has a message for the masses...put down your phones and read a book, but more than that – read 1984.

Now if only Pie would stand for election – I’d vote for him!
