Who thinks Shakespeare is boring?

This anarchic twist on A Midsummer Night’s Dream will make you think again.

Following critically acclaimed London and international festival runs, Lyric Hammersmith and Filter Theatre’s riotous reinterpretation of one of Shakespeare’s best loved plays, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, comes to Nuffield Southampton Theatres Campus (NST Campus) from May 1 - 5, and promises a night of mischief and mayhem.

Part rock gig, part stand-up, this classic Shakespeare tale of young lovers and warring fairies is given a unique and irreverent twist for the 21st century.

A Midsummer Night’s Dream is directed by Sean Holmes, Artistic Director at the Lyric Hammersmith, and features a 12 strong cast of actors and live musicians, including Allyson Ava-Brown, George Fouracres, Daniel Fraser, David Ganly, Harry Jardine, Matt King Smith, Amy Marchant, Kayla Meikle, Alan Pagan, Michael Palmer and Dharmesh Patel.

Katy Snelling, Head of Programming at NST, said: “I challenge anyone who thinks Shakespeare isn’t funny to come and give this production a go. Sean Holmes and Filter Theatre have crafted a production that really brings out the fun and chaos of a play where nothing is quite what it seems.”
