FAREHAM Musical Society Youth Theatre have started rehearsals for their next production, the smash hit musical Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat (a youth group production).

Joseph was first performed as an end of term concert at a school in London in 1968, and has since gone from strength to strength, with performances on Broadway, the West End and on many National Tours.

The first professional production was at Edinburgh Festival in 1972.

Auditions were held back in March and the show contains a huge cast of 48 children ranging from 8 – 16 years.

Although not on until October half term, the children and production team have been hard at work and the show features spectacular costumes, colourful scenery and a live orchestra!

Show Director Matt Swann said: "Trying to bring an iconic show such as Joseph to the stage has been a hugely enjoyable and challenging project.

"We have tried to keep some of the more traditional things in the show that people will expect to see, but at the same time we have put our own stamp on the show and given it a new lease of life.

"The audience are in for a surprise and I'm looking forward to seeing the children’s faces as we have a big surprise for them on opening night!”

The show opens on Friday October 26, call the box office on 01392 231942.
