This science-fiction musical, with a nod to The Tempest and other works by Shakespeare, set to sixties rock and roll, is an interesting mix that blends together surprisingly well.

FYT's new production was very much focused on the fun and feel good. Visually very cleverly conceived, with a somewhat kitsch charm reminiscent of 60s sci-fi movies and TV, it also had a brilliantly done monster invasion.

Director David Tatnall again proved himself a strong interpreter of material, drawing the maximum amusement from the script and strong performances from his cast.

Tom Chenhall (Captain Tempest) perfectly encapsulated the square jawed slightly dumb hero, while Nick Rew (Prospero) gave a great physical performances as the classic mad scientist. Emma Press (Miranda) and Maria Miles (Gloria) impressed, as did Harry Butterwick as the lovelorn Cookie and George Lambourne as a roller blading Ariel.
