ADAPTED by Jeremy Lloyd and David Croft from their own much-loved TV series, this comedy combined the clever knowingness and silliness of the original to great effect.
Given a wholly affectionate treatment by the Burley Players, this production had some neat little touches: the sardonic accordion player who popped up between scenes was nicely done.
The whole thing moved along at a brisk pace and director Annie McTaggart made good use of the auditorium space.
The actors tackled their roles with much enthusiasm and a great sense of fun. Although struggling with a few lines, John West (Rene) was a droll anchor for the flow of madcap action around him.
Janet West (Edith) showed great skill in singing quite so badly as she did. Paul Berry obviously was having great fun as Herr Flick and was well matched with Wanda Williams as Helga.
