IN this romantic comedy, a newlywed couple (Paul and Corie Bratter) move into their first home, a tiny fifth-floor New York apartment, with the apparently mismatched pair sparring over day-to-day marital issues whilst linked by their mutual passion for each other.

Michele Arkle was dynamic as free-spirited, impetuous and effervescent Corie, matching Shawn Condra’s innate American accent in his more measured performance as her stage husband, staid and conservative up-and-coming lawyer, Paul.

Neville Green was very amusing as the initially sleazy but ultimately more eccentrically warm-hearted neighbour, Victor Velasco, while Di Buck was excellent as Corie’s mother, physically convincing as having struggled up five flights of stairs (plus the stoop!) with wonderful facial expressions and comic timing.

Opening night nerves resulted in some hesitant moments but overall this was a well-paced domestic comedy, with a good, well dressed penthouse apartment set and scene change music and costumes evocative of the late 1960s.
