FOR two nights only, STP Musicals presented a selection of numbers from West End musicals, topped by a 20-minute version of the show of the moment, Matilda.
This was a pleasingly varied yet complementary collection that mixed mood, tempo and subject matter and was a good showcase for the talents of this youthful company.
Their Matilda perfectly captured the madcap mayhem of Tim Minchin’s work.
Very much an ensemble production, performed with verve and gusto by the company, there were nevertheless some performances that deserve particular mention.
Brogan Eacott brought real pathos to I Dreamed a Dream, while Sadie Levett gave incredible emotional punch to I’d Give my Life for You.
Kelan Pannell was great fun in a number of roles, including as Trunchbull in Matilda, and Nathan Deane had real star quality.
Their joint number from the Book of Mormon was one of the comic highlights.
