MOUNTBATTEN Players celebrate 25 years with Cinderella.

Full of comedy, visual spectacle and magic by the bucketful, it runs until Sunday at The Point.

With hilarious Ugly Sisters, loveable Buttons, hysterical Truno Bollioni, and of course Cinderella and her Prince Charming, the music is performed to the sounds of a live professional band.

Funny, fresh, and topical, including more than a nod to Strictly Come Dancing, the highlight of this traditional pantomime is seeing Cinderella go to the ball in a beautiful crystal coach pulled by a real pony.

Mountbatten Players started out life as a group of doctors, nurses and other health care professionals who found that theatre and creating shows was one of the ways that helped them cope with the stresses and strains of caring for the dying and those with advanced disease. Quarter of a century later the group continue to enjoy a close affiliation with Countess Mountbatten Hospice, the only NHS hospice in Hampshire.

Directors Peter Pitcher, a former nurse at Countess Mountbatten House, and Chris Davis tell us that they are putting together their most spectacular show ever with as much glitter, sequins and magic as they can muster, a professional live band and a real pony to pull Cinderella’s coach to the ball.
