CURTAIN CALL REVIEW:
‘PATIENCE’
Pocket Theatre
Hanger Farm Arts Centre
ALWAYS expect the unexpected from this company and in director David Tatnall’s adaptation of Gilbert and Sullivan’s comic opera - it was water pistols! Set in the world of ten-year-old schoolchildren, the girls swoon at the feet of pretentious Reginald Bunthorne, played by the hilarious Mark Ponsford, who once again scores top-marks, alongside Katherine Evans (Patience) completing a hectic month on and off stage with an assured comic performance showcasing her talents. Lucy Whiteman played Patience’s rival Angela with great verve and the second-act (after playtime!) saw a turnaround as George Lambourne made another impressive foray into adult theatre as the narcissistic Archibald Grosvenor, stealing the attention of the girls, including Patience. The whole cast were wonderful with the ensemble pieces delightfully performed, with Martin Paterson’s quartet providing excellent accompaniment to the witty songs and Sue Tatnall takes credit for the colourful costumes – and perhaps the water pistols too! Top of the class!
