Moses and the Burning Show
Southampton Comedy Society
The Annexe Theatre, University of Southampton
In their first major show of this academic year, the Southampton Comedy Society took Moses as the headline theme around which to fashion a sketch and improvisation show.
While Moses provided the glittering finale to the evening, he featured more fleetingly throughout the evening. The sketches were a mixed bag, with some good running gags relating to the Illuminati and Harry Potter, even a couple of insider ones relating to the Library. As with all such mixes some had more punch than others, but there was a good hit rate with material well tailored for an audience of their peers.
The improvisation sessions were altogether more edgy. The performers showed themselves inventive in the face of even the most ludicrous suggestions.
The show was well put together and sketches crisply directed.
Not for the easily offended, but a fun evening.
