CHERITON Players latest offering Cash on Delivery, written by Michael Cooney, is a good old traditional farce.

Helena Gomm, director, writes “Cash on Delivery has all the elements of a traditional British farce – plus a few more. There are lies, lies and more lies,

mistaken identities, misunderstandings, dead bodies, cross dressing, confusion and rebellious washing machines. Written by Michael Cooney, the son of that master of farce, Ray Cooney, this play’s ingenious construction presents fraud at its funniest.

“Ray Cooney once remarked that the difference between farce and comedy is that comedy is about unreal people in real situations, whereas farce is about real people in crazy situations. I’m not sure how real this colourful cast of characters can claim to be, but the situations they find themselves in are certainly crazy enough to produce an evening full of laughter."

Cash on Delivery runs at Cheriton Village Hall until tomorrow night.

The run is sold out.
