REVIEW: Holiday Snap, Bishopstoke Players, Bishopstoke Memorial Hall

AS we slip into autumn, Bishopstoke Players’ new production, set in a Portuguese time share, has a more summery feel. A comic tale of misunderstanding and mistaken identity, it featured the double booking of the villa and the interference of the constantly befuddled, myopic company rep.
The cast proved themselves deft comic performers, batting the dialogue back and forth with the ease of seasoned ping pong players.
The play itself was a little slow to catch fire, but picked up its pace in the second act.
Jon Morgan was all too frighteningly believable as the shambling, befuddled dipsomaniac Commander Chittenden, the company rep. He was ably supported by the rest of the cast; Maggie Allington particularly impressing as the overbearing mother-in-law Celia Partridge.
It was a slight, amusing piece, raised to its best by a hardworking cast
