AMATEUR dramatists across the south are gearing up for the Totton Festival of Drama in March.
Entry forms are now available for the contest, part of the All England Theatre Festival (AETF), and Shakespeare is included for the first time.
Those presenting The Bard’s work can progress through the subsequent rounds to The RSC Open Stages English Final, run in conjunction with the AETF English Final over the weekend of June 9 and 10, 2012 at The Swan Theatre, Worcester.
The winner will then have the honour to perform in Stratford in July.
The Totton Festival of Drama is the AETF preliminary round for Hampshire and is being held at the Hanger Farm Arts Centre from March 27 to 31.
It doesn’t have to be Shakespeare, the TFD is open to all amateur drama groups and schools throughout Hampshire. Plays need to be between 20 to 55 minutes in duration and can be of any genre.
Groups get a professional adjudication from Louise Manders G.O.D.A. and have the chance to battle their way through area and regional finals to represent England at the British final.
To request an entry pack, call 023 8086 2882 or email tottondrama@ntlworld.com.
