Royal Variety Performance, Otterbourne Village Hall Committee, Otterbourne

I HAVE reviewed Otterbourne’s Summer Show for a number of years and it’s always a treat but this year exceeded my expectations with the high standard, attention to detail, pace and sheer enjoyment I have come to associate with the group.

Devised and produced by John Pitman, Nicky Williams and Dawn Morris there was something for everyone as the cast romped through the decades associated with the Queen’s reign.

The choreography was tight, the costumes exquisite and the singing melodious.

The Bishop siblings and Joseph Warne deserve a special mention for their vocal performances, as does Holly Williams for her slick and sassy dancing (and company choreography).

The backstage and front of house teams rounded off the evening with their care and diligence.

This really is community theatre at its best and I found myself feeling proud to be British.
