IN this stage adaptation of the well-known film a group of regular women in a Yorkshire WI decide to throw caution – and their clothes – to the wind by producing their own nude calendar for charity.
Once again CCADS (under the direction of John-Paul McCrohon) elicited enthralling performances, solid Yorkshire accents and excellent characterizations from all concerned, particularly Sheila Birt (Annie), Peter Colley (John), Marie Ridley (Chris) and Sean Ridley (Lawrence).
The pace was slick, with lovely touches in visual humour, counter-balanced perfectly by the raw emotion of grief.
Despite minor opening-night flaws (occasionally dialogue was lost in the venue or masked by audience laughter), this was overall first-class, enhanced with lighting and sound effects.
