THE smash hit West End musical Ghost is to visit Southampton next year, Your Entertainment can reveal.

Based on the academyaward- winning film starring Patrick Swayze and Demi Moore, Ghost the Musical has been seen by more than half a million people and has been nominated for five Olivier Awards and three Tony Awards.

Featuring the iconic song Unchained Melody, Ghost is a timeless love story.

Walking back to their apartment one night, Sam and Molly are mugged, leaving Sam murdered on a dark street.

Sam is trapped as a ghost between this world and the next, and unable to leave Molly who he learns is in grave danger.

With the help of a phony storefront psychic, Oda Mae Brown, Sam tries to communicate with Molly in the hope of saving and protecting her.

The show is directed by Tony-award-winner Matthew Warchus (Matilda) and has music and lyrics by Grammy winner Dave Stewart (Eurythmics).

Oscar-winning Bruce Joel Rubin adapted his original screenplay for the stage production.

He won Best Original Screenplay for the movie, which also starred Whoopi Goldberg.

The full casting for the musical, which comes to The Mayflower from October 28 to November 9, will be announced early next year.

Tickets for Ghost the Musical go on sale on Monday, January 14.
