FRESH from stage school, she’s got her big break playing Baby in Dirty Dancing, but Roseanna Frascona has never seen the iconic film.

“It’s crazy,” she laughs.

“No one can believe I’ve not seen it and I have been told that I’m uncannily like Jennifer Grey in the film, even my mannerisms, but it’s just coincidence!

She may not be as obsessed with the classic 80s film as most of the audiences she is performing for, but she has become wrapped up in the story.

Roseanna, who has an English degree from Oxford, graduated from LAMDA and promptly fell in love with the script for Dirty Dancing on stage, even bursting into tears on first read.

“I just found the story really moving.

“The characters were dynamic and gritty and Baby’s determination to change people and the world around her is really inspiring to me.

“It’s a love story, but the politics are really fascinating and I can see why people love it so much.”

Dirty Dancing tells the story of Baby and Johnny, two fiercely independent young spirits from different worlds, who come together in what will be the most challenging and triumphant summer of their lives.

Featuring hit songs including Hungry Eyes, Hey!

Baby, Do You Love Me? and (I’ve Had) The Time Of My Life, it’s at The Mayflower from Tuesday to Saturday June 28.
