FANS of the stage can find out what happens behind the curtain when a theatre throws open its doors on Sunday, September 7.

The newly restored Chichester Festival Theatre is opening up to the public for a free, family-friendly event where people can take part in a range of activities.

The day is a one-off chance to explore the Festival Theatre and find out more about the skills involved in creating productions and try out some too.

Visitors can take part in some stage fighting and singing to concrete-making and costume design at the upgraded Grade II* listed building.

People can find out more about the theatre’s architecture, experience a tour incorporating their summer play Amadeus, peep inside the dressing rooms and visit backstage for a close-up look at the Guys & Dolls set.

The free event runs from 11am to 4pm and there is no need to book in advance. Check cft.org.uk/openday closer to the date for exact timings of the activities.
