The Last Five Years is an innovative modern musical written by Jason Robert Brown.

It premiered in Chicago in 2001 and has recently been released as film starring Anna Kendrick and Jeremy Jordan.

The story explores a five-year relationship between Jamie Wellerstein, a rising novelist, and Cathy Hiatt, a struggling actress.

Jamie’s version of their love story is told in chronological order, starting just after the couple have first met – whereas Cathy’s version is told in reverse, beginning the show at the end of their marriage.

Filled with some truly great songs, this is an intimate and passionate 90 minute exploration of the build up – and break up – of a romance.

The characters are played by real-life couple Kerry Butcher and Steven Lilly.
