LEGENDARY bass guitarist and singer Bruce Foxton brought his outstanding From The Jam show to Southampton.

The band ignited The Engine Rooms on West Quay Road with their astounding set of music from the late Seventies and early Eighties.

Lead singer-guitarist Russell Hastings, drummer Steve “Smiley” Barnar, all-rounder Tom Van Heel and Foxton raced through a brilliant medley of chart hits and album tracks from the halcyon days of The Jam.

Hastings was mightily impressive as the lead singer.

He has giant shoes to fill, but he sounds like Paul Weller and even looks like him too.

Foxton wore a smartly tailored suit with buttoned up classic Fred Perry polo shirt while Hastings remained casual in a T-shirt.

All three guitarists played a raw and impassioned acoustic version of That’s Entertainment.

The electricity was plugged back in again for an astonishing double.

The Eton Rifles and A Town Called Malice sent the crowd into a wild frenzy for those dancing at the front and to the top of their voices for everyone else.

A new album called Smash the Clock is set for release later in the year.

From the Jam have played Southampton before, but this was another unforgettable night in the city.
