HAMPSHIRE singer Birdy’s re-released song is now one of the most sought after songs after appearing on banking giants Lloyd’s advert.

The Lymington-based singer’s acoustic version of her song Wings features on Lloyd’s advert called Horse Story, which was made to celebrate the bank’s 250-year anniversary.

Thousands of people have been finding out about it by using smartphone app Shazam to search for it, and it immediately shot to number one in the Shazam chart where it has stayed in the top five singles.

The success of Wings marks a good week for the 19-year-old, whose real name is Jasmine Van den Bogaerde, as she will also appear on the Radio One live lounge this morning at 10am.

The original version was originally part of the former Pristland School pupil’s critically acclaimed 2013 album Fire Within which peaked at number eight in the UK album chart.

Wings was originally released back in 2013, and since re-entering the chart after appearing in the advert, it is currently seventeenth in the Official UK Top 40 Singles Chart.
