A HIT production which came top Southampton last year is returning in the coming days following a near sell-out run in London.

Nuffield’s hit production of A Number returns on August 19 following a popular six-week run at the Young Vic.

This production of A Number was first seen at Nuffield in February 2014 and received seven four-star reviews in the national press.

A Number will return to Nuffield with its original cast of real-life father and son John and Lex Shrapnel.

Created by Nuffield Associates Michael Longhurst and Tom Scutt – the team behind the four-time Olivier Award-nominated Constellations – A Number features ingenious staging that places the cast inside a mirrored cube with the audience seated on-stage around the action, offering a unique experience of the play.

Leading British playwright Caryl Churchill’s play poses questions of a complex scientific debate, not least the moral and human dilemmas when experimentation gets out of control.

Churchill pushes the boundaries of scientific possibility to put an astonishing twist on parental guilt and sibling rivalry, on the nature/nurture debate, and even the idea of free will.

  •  A Number will run at Nuffield from Wednesday, August 19 until Saturday, August 29.
