RICNIC Hampshire’s production of the 1954 musical The Pajama Game will be performed at the Theatre Royal, Winchester from Wednesday August 26 to Saturday August 29.

RicNic Hampshire is a dynamic youth theatre production charity that is unique in the area as it allows 16 to 21-year-olds from all over the county to become involved in every aspect of a professional quality musical production without having to pay a fee to join.

This year’s production of The Pajama Game involves a cast, band, technical and production team made up entirely of local young people.

It allows them the opportunity to gain valuable theatre experience that would be offered to them in a professional theatre setting as well as giving them an educational and enjoyable social experience for their summer holidays.

Co-producer Manikka Marchant said: “RicNic plays an important role in supporting and maintaining young people's interest in the Arts; something that has become difficult with the lack of funding for Arts projects as a result of austerity.

"However, RicNic is only run on a limited amount of funding so we rely on the donations and support of audience members and local organisations and businesses to make sure the experience is as good as it can be."
