THE Eastleigh based all-male physical theatre dance company ZoieLogic are touring their high voltage, risk taking production Safe during April.

Choreographer and artistic director Zoie Golding was inspired to make this swing time, high flyer after visiting the Empire State Building in New York and wondering what it must have been like to have been one of the construction workers.

“Back in the 1930s there was no such thing as ‘health and safety’,” says Zoie. “We’ve all seen iconic photos of the construction workers literally hanging out on a piece of scaffolding, eating their lunch, hundreds of feet in the air above the traffic. Safe is a piece about masculinity and brotherhood; about the incredible teamwork of these men, the camaraderie, the bravery, testing masculinity in a world of fragility and adversity. Audiences are drawn into the world of determination; they’ll see stories unfold and how competitiveness and bravado lead to a collective spirit and unique friendships.”

See the show at Portsmouth's New Theatre Royal on Tuesday.
