FOUR South Coast venues are showcasing eight exciting dance productions this autumn as part of a collaboration aimed at bringing audiences extraordinary performances.

A success in spring, Dance Along the South Coast returns in October and runs through to December at Mayflower Theatre, Southampton, The Point, Eastleigh, Pavilion Dance, Bournemouth, and Lighthouse, Poole. Each venue plays host to two shows that you can see as part of an exclusive ticket offer.

When you buy one full price ticket to any feature performance you can see another dance show at your venue of choice for half price. Designed to encourage audiences to see more high quality professional dance, Dance Along the South Coast unites four leading regional venues.

Beginning Dance Along the South Coast’s autumn season of spectacular performance is Leviathan from the multi-award winning James Wilton Dance. This is man versus nature in Wilton’s visually breathtaking re-imagining of Herman Melville’s groundbreaking novel Moby Dick. It takes place at Pavilion Dance, Bournemouth on Thursday October 6.

The English National Ballet presents Giselle at the Mayflower Theatre this October. Choreographed by Akram Khan with astounding set design by Tim Yip (Academy Award-winning designer of Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon), this classic story of love, betrayal and forgiveness is a unique interpretation of the iconic ballet. The visionary production features an adapted score by Ben Frost, performed by the English National Philharmonic and runs from Thursday October 27 to Saturday October 29.

The Point welcomes back Phoenix Dance Theatre on Thursday November 3 when the company presents a Triple Bill of innovative aerial dance. Celebrating 35 years of creating bold performance works, the company presents Bloom, Melt and Until.With/Out.Enough as dancers swoop and glide across the stage.

On Monday November 14, Poole welcomes Balletboyz’s Life. Inventive, vivid and memorable the show takes an elegant and provocative look at life and death, presented in the company’s inimitable style.

When you buy a ticket to one of the above full price shows you are invited to see another, at any of the other participating venues, for half price. The four productions include Dance Consortium presents Alvin Ailey American Dance Theatre at the Mayflower Theatre on October 11 and 12. This is an evening of brilliant dance works from some of today’s most acclaimed choreographers including the most widely-seen modern dance performance in the world, Revelations.

The following night, you can see Alexander Whitley Dance Company’s Pattern Recognition at The Point. Fusing contemporary dance with innovative technology, dancers are tracked by a system of moving lights as the show explores learning and memory in relation to the technology of artificial intelligence.

For festive fun see The Demon Barbers The Lock In ‘Christmas ‘Carol’ at Lighthouse, Poole on Sunday November 20. Half gig, half dance show and half panto, join regulars of Ye Olde Fighting Cocks on Christmas Eve.

Dance Along the South Coast concludes with Our Mighty Groove by Uchenna Dance at Pavilion Dance, Bournemouth on Thursday December 1. This is an interactive production set in an underground New York Club following five female club goers whose personalities and amusing behaviour will leave you wanting to join in.
