THE Berry Youth Theatre will cause a splash this weekend with their imaginative retelling of The Little Mermaid.

There are performances at 2pm and 7.30pm today (Friday April 21) and tomorrow (Saturday April 22).

Written by Rebecca Alloway and directed by Lucy Fennell, this production reimagines the classic tale by Hans Christian Andersen using vibrant choral storytelling and beautiful movement.

When a group of friends head down to the beach for a day trip, a chance encounter leads to them discovering what really lies beneath the waves…

Featuring a cast of over 50 young people ranging from 8 – 21 years old performing four shows over Friday and Saturday, The Little Mermaid is the youth theatre’s biggest production to date.

Budding theatre lovers also have the chance to take a peek backstage ahead of the opening show in The Little Mermaid Workshop and Behind the Scenes Tour, which gives an access all areas pass to all aspiring actors and theatre-makers aged 8 and up.

Rebecca Alloway and Lucy Fennell will also host a free post-show Q&A following Saturday afternoon’s performance, providing an excellent opportunity for future writers and directors to learn how to transfer their ideas from page to stage.

Tickets are £8 for adults and £6 for concessions, to book yours please visit www.theberrytheatre.co.uk or call the Box Office on 023 8065 2333.
