SOUTHSEA’S Kings theatre is opening its doors to give theatre lovers the chance to look behind the scenes and discover its secrets.
There will be professional dance and drama workshops for all ages at the open day on Saturday, and you’ll have the chance to sign up to the new Kings Youth Theatre and audition for the English Youth Ballet. There will also be stage make-up, dressing-up and storytelling workshops.
If you’re not much of a performer, you can join one of the technical tours, lighting desk demonstrations, restoration tours and heritage presentations.
And for the little ones, Postman Pat is paying a visit ahead of his show in March.
In collaboration with the Aspex Gallery, there will be two arts workshops led by professional artists Birgitte Lund and Clare Key. They will help you create a piece in response to some of the items rescued from the Kings archive.
And the treat of the day is your chance to feature in the documentary Kings is filming in collaboration with City Eye.
Tickets are £2.50 and all workshops are free. Call the box office on 023 9282 8282.
