ALFRED Hitchcock’s classic film of lies, lost ladies and locomotives is brought vividly to life at theatre Royal Winchester next week in an ingenious stage adaptation which stars familiar faces from TV and radio.
The Lady Vanishes features Terry Molloy (The Archers, and Davros in Dr Who) as enigmatic villain and Austrian brain surgeon Dr Egon Hartz, and Clive Flint (The Execution of Gary Glitter, EastEnders) as the hilarious Charters.
This rollicking comedy thriller is set on a perilous journey across the continent on the brink of total war.
The original film was Hitchcock’s penultimate, made in 1938 before he emigrated to Hollywood and tells the story of a collection of eccentrics attempting to reach London on the transalpine express.
The Lady Vanishes is playing at Theatre Royal Winchester from Tuesday to Saturday.
