A SPANISH group which combines heart-wrenching vocals, melancholic guitar solos and passionate duets with a sensuous and authentic flamenco dance experience comes to the south next month.
Each performance of Jaleo Flamenco features intricate, pulsating rhythms and syncopations which encourage improvisation, ensuring that no two performances are ever quite the same.
The group was formed in 1988 by award-winning artists from Seville and Jaleo first toured outside Spain during the autumn of that year to rave reviews.
Three years later, Granada Television spent a week in Seville filming a full length documentary about Jaleo which helped showcase their talents and introduce the group to an ever-increasing audience.
Over the past years their innumerable stage performances, television appearances, radio broadcasts, workshops and recordings have made a considerable contribution to the general understanding and appreciation of the flamenco art form.
Two decades on and Jaleo have firmly established an international reputation as an exciting, colourful and dynamic dance company. Their authentic and charismatic approach to performance has won them many followers and considerable acclaim from both press and public alike.
This visual feast of ballet, street, contemporary dance and physical theatre comes to Poole Lighthouse on October 1; Box Office: 0844 406 8666.
