E NESBIT’s classic children’s novel, The Phoenix and the Carpet, is brought magically to life at Theatre Royal Winchester in a delightful family drama featuring actors, live music, puppetry and a flying carpet.
Five talented actors will play over 26 characters in this heartwarming winter story and brand new page-to-stage adaptation.
When a golden egg falls into the nursery fire and hatches a talking Phoenix children Robert, Cyril, Andrea and Jane begin a remarkable adventure that will see them travel the world on their new flying carpet.
Along the way they meet a host of interesting characters including an Indian Maharaja, Australian natives Bruce and Charlene and businessman Mr Crinklemuff.
The Phoenix and the Carpet is suitable for children aged five plus and their families and is a co-production from the Nuffield Theatre and Forest Forge.
It appears at Theatre Royal Winchester on Wednesday as part of a national tour.
