LEWIS Carroll’s classic tale lends itself very well to pantomime, with this production including variations on all the more traditional elements.

Not many pantos start with an authentic Morris Dance but it worked well here, particularly during the interactive element!

It was encouraging to see the younger cast members enthusiastically participating in what is often an early introduction to theatre.

Annabel Dillon (Alice) danced beautifully and sang sweetly through Wonderland, making an engaging couple with delightful Ben Pharoah (Jack/Knave).

Lynda Parker (White Rabbit) and Caroline Powell (Dormouse) portrayed their animal characters with style and Lesley Wilson (Queen) and Martin Letts (King) made a comical pair, while Mike Clay (a Burtonesque Mad Hatter) and Danny Jeffs (March Hare) arguably stole the show with flamboyant, mischievous characters.

With bold, pop-up story-book scenery, vibrant costumes, good choreography and live band, this was a fun family pantomime, showing community theatre is alive and well.
