REVIEW:Love and Information, SUSU Theatre Group

The Annex Theatre, University of Southampton

MADE up of multiple brief interlinked vignettes and scenes, with numerous characters, Love and Information is a challenging and complicated piece of theatre. It is to their credit that with minimum props - an endlessly changing configuration of mainly chairs and tables - and a few changes of clothing, Theatre Group have produced an intense, brisk and confident adaptation of this Caryl Churchill comedy drama.

Directed (by Kimberley Pearson, Phoebe Judd and Octavia Woodward) with minimum fuss but with great efficiency, the production maintains its pace and momentum throughout, juggling the multiple narrative strands with considerable panache.

The choreography of the constantly changing scenes and movement of props was handled with great style, enhanced by some good use of lighting. The incredibly hard working and talented cast moved effortlessly from character to character and the ever changing tone from comedy to drama and back again.

A production that combined style and substance.
