I MUST admit I was a bit put off when I discovered this was a one man show.
But I quickly realised my worries were unfounded after five minutes of this absorbing thriller.
At times I forgot I was watching just one actor as the fast paced, witty remarks of an endearing alcoholic kept me on the edge of my seat.
Set in 1950s London, Bloodshot tells the tale of a skilled but down on his luck photographer embroiled in the mysterious death of a pretty, young, black woman.
Simon Slater’s storytelling is superb and easily the best acting I have seen at The Nuffield.
He skilfully and effortlessly jumps between an Irish ukulele-playing comedian, an American saxophone player and a Russian magician.
His accents were spot on and I was somewhat amazed at his musical instrument playing ability.
The thrilling plot is backed up by some creative lighting on stage which helps cement the atmosphere.
Bloodshot combines outstanding acting and a gripping plot, resulting in one of the best plays I have ever watched.
Bloodshot runs until March 6. Box Office 023 8067 1771.
