- My role as an engagement officer means I am responsible for the development and maintenance of close links with partner agencies, using the wider police family and directing the activity of PCSOs in Northam, Waterfront and City Centre. I organise public meetings including the three monthly priority setting meeting, and produce and maintain the public facing media items you might see in and around your local area. - PC 24389 Jeanette Denton is the Engagement Officer for the Polygon, Solent University and the Solent Halls of residence. She has worked in safer neighbourhood Policing since 2008 where she started as a beat officer in the St Mary's team and then moved to engagement working with the City Centre, Waterfront and Polygon areas. From here she has progressed onto becoming the Solent University liaison officer for Southampton Police and was given an award this year for her contributions to the student and local community within the Polygon and Solent. She remains in this post focusing on helping the local communities to enjoy where they live, creating new initiatives such as the Shush Campaign, and liasing with the Solent media comms team and student union on new projects where the Police can get involved to promote crime prevention. PC Denton also looks after all of the Solent Halls of Residence to which the PCSO's in the area are now SPOC's for and has contact with all main campuses. She has presented to the international student community and all Freshers to encourage community cohesion and understanding in the areas which they choose to live and work whilst studying in Southampton. PC Denton is committed to helping make the lives of the local community better and coming from the Alumni of Solent University herself having studied a BA Hons degree in Criminology, is keen to engage with and encourage communities to come together and live harmoniously.
