Insp Kerry Loveless

I am very privileged to have been given the post of Sector Inspector for the Southampton West which incorporates the wards of Freemantle, Shirley, Millbrook, Redbridge and Coxford. This new posting is familiar territory for me, having been the Neighbourhood Sergeant for Redbridge ward seven years ago. I return very much with the view that my team and I are part of the community we serve and can play a key role in keeping you safe by listening to your concerns and working with you to address them. My role as Inspector for these wards is to lead the Neighbourhood Teams. The are two Neighbourhood Teams and these are headed by four sergeants – Paul Howlett and Peter Smith for Freemantle and Shirley wards and Stuart Baker and Tim Adams for Millbrook, Redbridge and Coxford wards. There are twenty Police Constables across the teams and fourteen Police Community Support Officers (PCSO’s). The structure and role of Neighbourhood Policing has undergone some significant changes in the last 12 months. Our current role includes many of the things that you would expect us to do, such as reducing crime and anti-social behaviour and dealing with those who are offending within our community. However, a more recent area of focus for the Neighbourhood Officers is working with victims of domestic violence and those at risk of becoming victims. Also, working with other agencies to safeguard vulnerable people within the community and ensure their long term wellbeing. In order for us to make as much progress as possible for our communities, we need your continued assistance. You can help by contacting us about issues that are affecting you or members of your community or by providing information to help identify those responsible and resolve the problems. You can do this by telephoning 101 or by email at: southampton.west.police@hampshire.pnn.police.uk

Your local Neighbourhood Policing Team are working with the community to tackle quality of life issues, protect the vulnerable and crack down on persistent offenders.

We work with the community through regular Priority Setting Meetings, where the local issues and concerns are raised, and these become priorities for your local officers to tackle. We also work with other agencies such as Southampton City Council to reduce offending and anti-social behaviour.

This site will give you a brief overview of our current priorities, and when the next public meetings are, as well as what we are doing to tackle offending in your area.

If you wish to contact the team, please feel free to contact us on 101, via Twitter @ShirleyPolice or by email at shirley.snt@hampshire.pnn.police.uk.
