About this neighbourhood
Sholing is a densely populated residential area in the east of Southampton and has a population of around 13,800. Sholing has lots of semi detached houses with large gardens. It also has large areas of green space and woodland including part of the Shoreburs Greenway and Millers Pond. This is a mixture of open common land and pathways leading towards the Southampton coast line. Whilst on the east of Southampton Sholing still maintains a village feel with many social groups and activities taking place in the area. Sholing is home to the Sholing Valley Study Centre and the Sholing Environmental Group who are committed to the conservation of the local wildlife. The area has an abundance of local schooling from infant to secondary education which all provide a high standard of learning. Sholing is an intriguing mixture of green open spaces and residential housing. Local amenities in Sholing consist of mini marts and independent traders found on main artery roads.
